How to get a good dye job

A few months ago I decided to take the big plunge and go from a brunette to a blonde. This was terrifying and exciting all at the same time because I still had virgin hair. Yes at 21, I had never dyed my hair or even had highlights. But it was almost my big birthday and I needed a drastic change. Step one was finding a color that I liked but that also liked me back. It needed to be a mutual relationship because I might like a color, but it doesn't necessarily look good on me. One tip I can give is when you are looking for a color, find it on someone who naturally has your hair color. Then it is easier to have your hairdresser make that color transition and for you to imagine what it would look like. Step two was a test trial. Since I had never dyed my hair before, my hairdresser wanted to do a few test strips on the hair underneath to see which color we liked the best. This was a brilliant idea because it would have been horrible to dye my whole head then not like the color. Lastly is having a hairdresser that you trust and knows what they are doing without any hesitation. Trust their opinion as well because they do know what they are doing. Take their advice also as to what you need to do to maintain your color. I definitely trust my hairdresser and adore her! It's important to have that relationship with them! I will show you all later how my hair turns out for today! 

Modern comfort

Today I decided to go with a modern chic look. My eyes were tired so the glasses were a must. And it's a good thing these shoes are comfy and stylish! They are the Nike wedge sneakers, which I love because being short, I can wear comfy shoes and get some height too. The sweater is H&M and has a high low bottom to it. The skinny jeans are American Eagle and the scarf is Forever21 I'm pretty sure. These scarves are everywhere though. Makeup wise, I wanted to do a bold lip and the dark purple is a lip color I am obsessed with. It's also a color that looks good on everyone! 

Simple chic

When getting dressed today, I had no idea what to wear and was running late. So I thought about what's the quickest and easiest outfit I can wear and still look cute? Skinny jeans are always a go to (mine are American Eagle), and a basic black long sleeve shirt (H&M). It's simple, yet you can do so much with it with little effort. Just throw on a cute scarf and some basic studs (ForLove21 has some really cute sets right now) and you are all set to take on that world! I was feeling a little sassy, so I opted for the animal print scarf (Forever21), which totally worked. Chose an outfit that you feel good in, and is effortless but still cute!

Health craze or just healthy?

With the weather being so gloomy today I had a choice; comfort food or stick to my plan of being healthy? I decided to stick to the plan of eating healthy and not choosing that gooey mac and cheese (it was a tough decision). Instead I stopped into New Seasons (local organic/natural food store like Whole Foods) and chose a sandwich and kumbacha. It was difficult trying to pick a flavor or kumbacha in the sea of options. But the lemon ginger and cayenne stuck out to me. I do have to say, I can feel my body detoxing while drinking it! As for that sandwich, I can never go wrong with a tomato field roast, goat cheese and loads of veggies on it. For a vegetarian, it's hard to sometimes find substancial meat substitutes to put on a sandwich. This is one that definitely can kick meat's ass in a completion of taste. Eating healthy doesn't have to be boring or hard when you are on the go or not feeling like cooking! 

Comfy cozy

Living in Oregon, being warm is a must. In a state that is always cold, it's a must to wear layers and look cute without looking drab. Today I decided to go for comfy and cozy by wearing basic black leggings (Lucy), a loose sweater in eggplant (H&M), a fun cozy scarf (Nordstrom), camp socks (Jcrew) and motorcycle boots (Steve Madden). Can never go wrong when being cute and warm!
